Stakeswinner No. 123 for Redoute’s Choice
Newhaven Park’s lovely homebred filly Peeping became the 123rd stakeswinner by champion sire Redoute’s Choice when she won Saturday’s $125,000 ATC Sebring S. 1200m LR, registered as the Darby Munro Stakes.
It was the 3YO filly’s third win from five starts and followed a good second placing behind Nayeli in the ATC Fireball S. LR at Randwick two weeks ago.
Peeping’s trainer Ron Quinton said, “The first time I saw her I said this is a racehorse.
“The speed was drawn inside us and Sam [Clipperton] gave her a great ride…She’s only lightly framed but she’s got plenty of guts.”
Quinton added that the $200,000 P.J. Bell S. G3 on 4 April, the first day of The Championships, is Peeping’s next target. She is also nominated for the $500,000 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint G2 on Day 2 of The Championship, 11 April.
Peeping is the first foal of the Group 2-winning mare Miss Marielle and is bred on the Redoute’s Choice/Encosta de Lago cross that has produced four other stakeswinners from only 20 runners, among them Group 1 winner Musir, leading young sire Beneteau and this season’s brilliant debut 2YO stakeswinner Burnstone.
Less than three hours after Peeping’s win, Newhaven Park also figured in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper G1 when Stud’s very good filly English finished less than a length from the winner Vancouver. Court, the dam of English, is in foal to Redoute’s Choice.
Newhaven Park will offer two colts by Redoute’s Choice at next month’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, including Peeping’s full brother as Lot 56.
Redoute’s Choice now has 12 stakeswinners worldwide this season, headed by Group 1 winners Lankan Rupee, Hampton Court, Bonaria & champion South African filly Majmu.
The three-time champion sire of Australia, still right at the top of his game, has 35 lots catalogued for the Easter Sale, including 6 fillies & 5 colts in the Arrowfield draft.
