New stakeswinners for Dundeel & Maurice

Dundeel & Maurice both contributed to a sensational Everest & Caulfield Cup Day that ended with a Group 1 victory, 3 other stakes wins plus The Kosciuszko, 6 Group placings & a Listed 2nd for Arrowfield stallions, graduates and racehorses.

Dundeel’s day began in Race 1 at Royal Randwick when his Arrowfield bred-&-sold daughter It’s A Knockout (ex Sport Chic by Redoute’s Choice) & Snitzel’s son Matias scored wild card entries for the $3 million Big Dance LR on 3 November.

A $150,000 Dynamic Syndications purchase from Arrowfield at Magic Millions, It’s A Knockout has earned more than $500,000 with 4 wins & 7 placings from the stables of Ciaron Maher and now Jason Deamer.

Two races later, another Dundeel daughter Unleeshing enacted her name with a withering late burst to win the $250,000 ATC Angst S. 1600m G3 for her My Racehorse owners & Bjorn Baker, who joined Clarke Bloodstock & Belmont Bloodstock to bid $80,000 for her at Magic Millions. Pillow Fight (ex Arrowfield-bred mare Slumber Party by Snitzel) completed the quinella for the Baker stable.

Unleeshing was offered by Blue Gum Farm on behalf of Rob Crabtree who bred her from Eleesha (by Encosta De Lago), already the dam of dual New Zealand Group 2 winner Imelda Mary.

Unleeshing is Dundeel’s 41st stakeswinner and may get a chance to go further this campaign, as she is nominated for the Railway S. G1 in Perth on 21 November.

Thirty minutes after the Angst Stakes, Maurice chimed in with his 37th stakeswinner, Arrowfield-bred 3YO colt Kosaji, successful in the $120,000 SAJC Hill-Smith S. 1800m LR at his third start for Phillip & Tommy Stokes.

Kosaji, the 6th stakeswinner from Arrowfield’s Yearling Class of 2025, was a $250,000 purchase by Stokes Racing & Suman Hedge at Inglis Easter, with the Stud retaining a share of him. He is the 4th winner and first stakeswinner out of Group-winning juvenile Teaspoon (by Snitzel), the youngest of 4 stakes-winning and stakes-producing daughters left by the wonderful broodmare Patronella.

Teaspoon has a yearling filly by Admire Mars, a filly foal by Dundeel and returns to Maurice. Arrowfield is also breeding from Teaspoon’s siblings Bacarella (by Beneteau; she has a filly foal by Vandeek), Aliyana Tilde (by Snitzel; she is the dam of G1 winner Private Life & has a colt foal by Castelvecchio).

Another three members of Maurice’s 2023 crop figured in feature races at Caulfield: Vallice (2nd, Caulfield Classic G3) and graduates Icelady (2nd, Thousand Guineas G1) & Your Colour (2nd, Ethereal Stakes G3), and dual Group 1 winner Cosmic Crusader was an honourable 4th in the Caulfield Cup G1.

At the end of an exhilarating day of racing in Sydney & Melbourne, Maurice (7th) & Dundeel (14th) rank with The Autumn Sun (2nd) and Snitzel (5th) among Australia’s current leading sires by earnings with more than $18 million prizemoney and 15 stakeswinners in the first 11 weeks of the season.
