Snitzel’s Wild Ruler wins Heritage Stakes
It’s been won by Kingston Town, Octagonal, Intergaze, General Nediym, Lonhro & Hasna.
Redoute’s Choice claimed it, thanks to Counterattack in 2005, and Not A Single Doubt sired the 2011 winner Karuta Queen.
Now Snitzel has added the $140,000 ATC Heritage S. 1100m LR to his spectacular stud record, after his 3YO son Wild Ruler’s convincing defeat of Destination & Forbidden Love in the 2020 renewal.

The third foal of the US-bred mare Gypsy Robin (by Awesome Again’s son Daaher), Wild Ruler made $525,000 for his breeder Kia Ora Stud when purchased by the China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock & WinStar from the 2019 Inglis Easter Sale.
He is building an attractive record as the winner of the rich Inglis Nursery RL at his 2YO debut, Group 2-placed behind Rothfire in Queensland and a first-up 3YO sprint winner.
Co-trainer Paul Snowden indicated that the 1200-metre Roman Consul S. G2 will be the next test of Wild Ruler’s readiness for a Melbourne campaign, namely the Coolmore Stud S. G1 on 31 October and the Darley Sprint Classic G1 on 7 November.
As for Snitzel, he has now recorded four Australian stakeswinners this season, a tally he shares with fellow Arrowfield residents Written Tycoon & Not A Single Doubt. He joins new Premiership leader Written Tycoon & I Am Invincible as the first Australian sires to break $2 million prizemoney this season.
