Snitzel filly makes $130,000 in Adelaide
Arrowfield sires are represented by only five lots in the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, but one of them has supplied the second highest price of yesterday’s opening session at the Morphettville Sales Complex.

Snitzel continued his excellent season in the sale-ring, as well as the track, when Mill Park’s powerfully made filly from Starts With a Kiss (by Umatilla) was knocked down to Mark Kavanagh for $130,000. Kavanagh trains Snitzel’s stakes performers Weekend Special (3 wins) and Sweetener (3rd in Samaready’s MRC Blue Diamond Prelude G3).
The son of Redoute’s Choice made headlines last weekend when his daughters Snitzerland and Extreme Impact quinella-ed the VRC Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. G3 and his son Pronto Pronto was third in the VRC Sires’ Produce S. G2.
Snitzel is now third, behind Fastnet Rock and More Than Ready, on the Australian 2YO Sires’ list with 5 winners and more than $760,000 prizemoney.
Like Snitzel himself, his progeny develop beyond their juvenile year and his 12 stakes performers this season also include 3YOs Hot Snitzel, First Course, Hollyweird and Snitzem (Group 2-placed on Monday), and 4YOs Top Drop & Weekend Special. Third in the Magic Millions Classic (R) LR at two, Schiffer returned at three this season to add $126,000 to her career earnings with a strong win in January’s GCTC Magic Millions Sprint.
Snitzel’s own trainer Gerald Ryan has prepared a remarkable 13 winners of 27 races by him, but several other trainers are enjoying success with his progeny in 2011/12, among them Kelso Wood (Sizzling), Leon Corstens (Snitzem), Jason Warren (Pronto Pronto), David Hayes (Extreme Impact) & Clinton McDonald (No Smoken).
