Redoute’s Choice influence only grows

He’s no longer with us, but the record and influence of Redoute’s Choice only grows.

Saturday’s $100,000 SAJC Centaurea S. 2050m LR winner Oasis Girl (ex Siwa by Green Desert) is the legendary sire’s 173rd lifetime stakeswinner & his 14th stakeswinner since his death on 26 March 2019.

It was a big effort from the 3YO filly who backed up from a six-length romp on heavy ground at Caulfield last Saturday  and has made steady progress since her wins at Seymour and Bendigo last Spring.

Prepared by Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra for owner-breeders Danny Molloy, Elizabeth Mortensen, Graeme Orr & Gaire Pty Ltd, Oasis Girl has now compiled five wins from 10 starts for earnings of $248,810.

Her UK-bred dam Siwa, whose relatives include Pierro, has left five other winners, among them Listed winner  Siwa Lady and Oasis Girl’s year-older brother Brilliant Choice, a $600,000 Easter yearling who showed great promise with wins at Randwick and Moonee Valley before his premature death.

Siwa’s 2YO son Turin Warrior (by Not A Single Doubt) is in training with Archie Alexander and she has a yearling filly by Snitzel.

Oasis Girl has substantial future value as a stakes-winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice who has quietly slipped past the $24 million mark at the head of the 2019/20 Australian Broodmare Sires’ premiership. That’s a new season record and will almost certainly secure his second consecutive title in that role.

While Redoute’s Choice cannot be replaced, he leaves behind him at Arrowfield the most powerful line-up of his sons to be found anywhere and all three are standing at reduced fees in this extraordinary year: three-time Champion Sire Snitzel, now eyeing his fourth consecutive title; his best racing colt The Autumn Sun, whose first foals arrive this Spring; and Pariah, who displayed the same juvenile brilliance possessed by Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt & Beneteau. Pariah’s first-crop progeny are now attracting favourable attention as weanlings.
