Flying Fulton triumphs again in Singapore

Champion sire Flying Spur added the 158th black type victory his stud record when his talented son Flying Fulton won the Singapore TC Polytrack Mile Championship 1600m Sgp-3 at Kranji last night.

It was the third stakes win this season and ninth career success for Flying Fulton (bred by ex Fulton by Zabeel) whose prizemoney now totals $A575,104.

It was a game effort by the 5YO gelding who was trapped three wide in a midfield position for most of the race. Jockey Opie Bosson allowed Flying Fulton to move forward steadily and by the home turn he was ready to strike. Once balanced up into the straight, Bosson got to work on him and he unwound a powerful finish, hitting the lead at the 150-metre mark and racing clear to win by 1.5 lengths from Rafaga.

Trainer Mark Walker said he would aim Flying Fulton at the $S150,000 Marsling Classic over 1800m on the Polytrack on March 25 and then work out a programme from there.

“He’s a great horse and even though he was wide today he just kept rolling into the race. He loves the Polytrack also and the 1900m is about as far as he wants. I just don’t think he gets the 2000m on the grass.”

Flying Fulton completed a fine weekend with progeny of Arrowfield sires for his owners Te Akau Racing, who also won the ARC Mr Tiz Trophy LR on Saturday with 3YO Redoute’s Choice colt Burgundy.

Another of Flying Spur’s five stakeswinners this season, 3YO filly Bliss Street, added a sixth black type performance to her record when running third in Saturday’s VRC AV Kewney S. G2.

And Flying Spur’s son Casino Prince now leads the Australian 1st Season Sires’ list after All Too Hard’s brilliant win in the VRC Sires’ Produce S. G2.

The 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Sale catalogue includes 20 yearlings by Flying Spur, including five colts and four fillies in the Arrowfield draft .
