Arrowfield graduates & sires were very busy indeed on Super Saturday at Flemington, Royal Randwick, Ellerslie & Hawkesbury.
They collected Group 3 & Listed victories by Scheelite & Beadman, Group 1 placings by Autumn Boy, graduate Lady Shenandoah & 2YO Liguria, Group placings by 2YO graduate Wolf Gap, Marhoona, Mazu & Polymnia, a third placing by He Who Dares in the $4 million Kiwi RL and a convincing Provincial-Midway Championship Qualifier win by graduate Matcha Latte.
Scheelite is a new graduate stakeswinner for the Stud after landing the $200,000 VRC Shaftesbury Avenue H. 1400m G3 with an impressive front-running performance, a winning margin of 1.25 lengths and a slick time of 1:21.26.
The 5YO gelding showed early talent with two city wins as a juvenile, but has required patience to fulfil that promise, as co-trainer Kasey Keys explained, “It’s a huge thrill, it means an awful lot, we’ve only got a small team, but when you get one like this, who promises the world, it’s just taken a while for it to happen.”
Scheelite just keeps running in the Shaftesbury Avenue 🩷💜

An $80,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase by Ken Keys from Collingrove Stud, as agent for Arrowfield, Scheelite has now earned more than $500,000. He has been allotted 50 kg in the $4 million Doncaster Mile G1 at Randwick on 4 April.
Scheelite is the 10th stakeswinner for Deep Impact’s Group 1-winning son Real Steel, also sire of Japanese Horse of the Year Forever Young, and he is the second Group winner, after Althoff (by Written Tycoon) among six winners left by the excellent broodmare Miss St Tropez (by Magnus from the wonderful Denise’s Joy family).
Ken Keys returned to Arrowfield to purchase Miss St Tropez’s daughter by Maurice for $80,000 from Inglis Classic 2024. Named Tisseyre, she was placed on debut last Spring.
Scheelite and Tisseyre have been joined by the Admire Mars-Miss St Tropez yearling colt, also bought by the Keys stable, this time for $120,000 from Arrowfield’s 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast draft. The mare produced a filly by three-time Group 1 winner Hitotsu in 2025.
A Group 3 winner at two, and Group 2-placed last Spring, Beadman returned to the winner’s circle with a tenacious effort in the $200,000 ATC Fireball S. 1100m LR, becoming Snitzel’s 6th winner of the race in the past 11 years.
Jockey James McDonald – who rode six of the nine feature races on the Randwick card – said, “Good tough performance. He didn’t lie down and he’ll take benefit from the run.”
The Peter Snowden-trained colt is nominated for the $3 million T.J. Smith S. G1 & the $1 million Arrowfield 3YO Sprint G2 at The Championships.

A $900,000 purchase by China Horse Club, Newgate and a high-profile group of partners from Arrowfield’s Magic Millions Gold Coast draft, Beadman was bred by Arrowfield in partnership with Hermitage Thoroughbreds. He is one of 3 winners left by the very fast French-bred racemare Iffranesia (by Iffraaj) whose 9 wins included a Listed Race at Chantilly.
Beadman’s full brother was purchased from Arrowfield for $1.5 million by Tom Magnier at Magic Millions 2026. Iffranesia has a weanling colt by Dundeel and is in foal to The Autumn Sun.
