Written Tycoon hasn’t missed a beat this year, finishing the 2019/20 season in ninth spot on the Australian Sires’ Premiership and moving into the top five with 38 winners and $1.4 million in the first 7 weeks of the new term.

3YO filly Odeum opened his 2020/21 stakes record with a professional 1.5 length victory in Saturday’s $140,000 MRC Jim Moloney S. 1400m LR, her second win from three starts.

Jockey Michael Walker said, “This filly is still learning her caper. She jumped, she settled beautiful. She was off the bit turning. As soon as she got in a straight line and had a horse outside her, she quickened.

“When she hit the front she had her ears pricked. I think there’s a few more lengths up her sleeve yet.”

Co-trainer Michael Kent Jr. agreed and confirmed that the $1 million Thousand Guineas G1 on 10 October is now on the filly’s agenda.

Odeum was bred by Newhaven Park Stud from the stakes-placed Movie (by Red Ransom), also the dam of million-dollar earner & Listed winner Goodfella (by Snitzel). Offered at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, she was purchased for $420,000 by agent Sheamus Mills who races her with Newton Thoroughbreds & Chesapeake Thoroughbreds.

Odeum is Written Tycoon’s 35th career stakeswinner, his 7th this year and the second stakeswinner from his 2017 crop following Ole Kirk, who is Golden Rose-bound after his excellent second in the Run to the Rose G2 on 12 September.

Spendthrift’s 4YO colt Dirty Work supplied Written Tycoon’s other significant result this weekend, when he finished boldly to snatch 4th, only 1.5 lengths from the winner Classique Legend in The Shorts G2 at Randwick.

While Written Tycoon is busy serving an outstanding book of mares at Arrowfield, his progeny have compiled 21 wins and almost $800,000 prizemoney in Australia during September. With around 300 superbly bred 2YOs & 3YOs powering up this season, the best is yet to come for Woodside Park Stud’s champion sire.
