Redoute’s Choice dynasty heats up the Spring

As the roses begin to bloom in Melbourne, and the temperatures rise in Sydney, Redoute’s Choice is all over the pedigrees of Spring Carnival stars.

He is the sire of one Group-winning 3YO colt, Aussies Love Sport, paternal grandsire of a second, the gelded Divine Calling, and damsire of a third, the Golden Rose S. G1 winner Zoustar.

Aussies Love Sport and Divine Calling will both have a chance to join the Group 1 club in next Saturday’s $1 million MRC Caulfield Guineas, while Zoustar’s next start will be in the VRC Coolmore Stud S. G1 on 2 November.

The first day of 2YO stakes racing didn’t pass without his participation either. His son Not A Single Doubt produced Risen From Doubt, a most impressive winner of Saturday’s VRC Maribyrnong Trial S. LR, and already touted for the 2014 Blue Diamond S. G1.

Later on the same card, Fire Up Fifi (by Bradbury’s Luck) added the VRC Blazer S. G2 to her two previous Listed stakes wins and took her earnings beyond $500,000. Bradbury’s Luck then notched up a Singapore Group 1 success when Cash Luck took out the Kranji Mile on Sunday evening.

At Randwick Stratum’s magnificent daughter Streama was the bravest of seconds in Saturday’s ATC Epsom H. G1, two weeks after scoring her third Group 1 victory in the George Main Stakes.

Last weekend Sharnee Rose (by Nadeem) broke through for her first black type success in the ATC Golden Pendant G3, and Snitzel’s son Shamus Award was just pipped by Divine Calling in the MVRC Bill Stutt S. G2.

The Perth-trained Modello became Snitzel’s 37th stakes performer on Saturday, and Malavio, from the same crop, was a commendable fifth in the Epsom, after winning last month’s ATC Tramway S. G3.

Not A Single Doubt, Snitzel, Stratum, Nadeem and Bradbury’s Luck are among the 11 sons of Redoute’s Choice that have so far left a total of 79 stakeswinners.

Zoustar, by Northern Meteor from the Redoute’s Choice mare Zouzou, has been a dominant winner of the ATC Golden Rose S. G1 and Saturday’s ATC Roman Consul S. G2, and is one of four Spring stakeswinners left by daughters of the two-time champion sire. The others are Kiss A Rose (MRC Quezette S. G3), Shoreham (VRC Sofitel H. LR) and Karacatis (SAJC W.H. Wylie H. LR). Redoute’s Choice mares have now left 23 stakeswinners.

Redoute’s Choice added more black ink to his own sire record on Saturday, courtesy of Sensibility (2nd, ATC Flight S. G1 – posting the fastest time for the last 600 metres of the race), Dystopia (2nd, ATC Premiere S. G2) and Liberty’s Choice (2nd, ATC Dulcify H. LR).
