Profitable pinhooks by Arrowfield sires

Arrowfield-sired 2YOs attracted three of the five highest bids on the first day of New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready To Run Sale at Karaka on Wednesday. All three colts were bought by Hong Kong trainers.

First up was the Not A Single Doubt-Plain Crazy colt, knocked down to David Ferraris for $270,000 – a great return on the $60,000 paid for him at February’s Inglis Classic Sale by the Van Dyk family’s Prima Park.

The result pays a further compliment to Ambergate Farm which sold Not A Single Doubt’s latest stakeswinner, Jackson, from the same draft.

Manfred Man signed for Riversley Park’s colt by Smart Missile from Venetian Lady (by Woodman) at $260,000. That’s more than eight times the price Sam Beatson paid for him at the Inglis Classic Sale, where he was presented by Broadwater Thoroughbreds.

$260,000 was also paid for Prima Park’s Smart Missile-Zabelka (by Zabeel) colt, purchased by Ricky Yiu. The strongly made colt was originally bought for $90,000 from the Arrowfield consignment at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Today’s session set an Australasian record for a 2YO auction with an average price of $91,036. The Sale concludes on Thursday.
