Peters’ storming success with Redoute’s Choice

Peters Investments & Redoute’s Choice have made a formidable team for more than a decade, more often than not supported by trainers Grant & Alan Williams and jockey William Pike.

They were all in the stakeswinner’s circle yet again after Saturday’s $175,000 MRC Weekend Hussler S. 1400m LR, won in fine style by 4YO gelding Windstorm.

Windstorm (out of Group winner Storm Alert by Metal Storm) is the 174th stakeswinner for Redoute’s Choice and, by our count, the 7th of them bred & raced by leading owners Bob & Sandra Peters. (They have also bought & raced a couple more: Tranquility & Very Tempting.)

In all, the famous Cerise, White Crossed Sashes, Quartered Cap have been carried by Redoute’s Choice’s progeny to 19 Group & Listed wins, including Galaxy Star’s 2018 Railway S. G1.

But Windstorm wasn’t the only winner Team Peters shared with the legendary sire at Caulfield. Redoute’s Choice also figures as the damsire of their outstanding mare Arcadia Queen, who scored a stunning victory in the $1 million Caulfield S. G1.

That performance, along with Flit’s lucrative Silver Eagle win and black type placings by Bucharest (3rd, Spring Champion S. G1), Muntaseera & Passing Phase, added $1.1 million prizemoney to Redoute’s Choice’s tally on the Australian Broodmare Sires’ premiership.

He’s now only $300,000 behind his old rival Encosta de Lago and very much back in the hunt for a third consecutive distaff title to match the three General Sires’ premierships he won in 2006, 2010 & 2014.

Windstorm is one of two stakeswinners helping Redoute’s Choice hold his spot inside the top 20 on the main Sires’ table, despite naturally diminishing runner numbers. And the other one?

You guessed it, another wonderful Peters home-bred, Perfect Jewel, whose six Group wins include the W.W. Cockram S. G3 at Caulfield on 29 August.
