Ninth Group 1 winner for Written Tycoon
Arrowfield, in association with Woodside Park Stud, is privileged to stand Written Tycoon this year and last week confirmed 35 quality mares for his 2020 book.
They are a stellar group, headed by Champion 3YO Filly Shoals (by Fastnet Rock) and her dam The Broken Shore (by Hussonet), Group 2 winner Noire (by Foxwedge), 2YO Group winners Teaspoon (by Snitzel) & Honesty Prevails (by Redoute’s Choice; dam of this year’s $1.9 million Deep Impact colt), Group 3 & multiple Listed stakes winner Angel Of Mercy (by Hussonet) and Rationality (by Flying Spur; sister of G1 Mentality & dam of Group-placed 2YO winner Bartley).
It didn’t take Written Tycoon long to underline Arrowfield’s enthusiasm with his second Group 1 winner this season, and the ninth of his career when Tyzone nabbed Saturday’s $350,000 BRC Stradbroke H. 1400m G1.
In a hectic finish it was the 6YO gelding’s unflinching determination that prevailed to claim victory from Madam Rouge & Niccanova, and deliver an emotional maiden Group 1 victory for popular Gold Coast trainers Toby & Trent Edmonds.
A thrilling finish in the TAB Stradbroke Handicap as Tyzone who ran second in last year’s race has come back to win the 2020 edition for @EdmondsRacing and Robbie Fradd @TrentEd1 @RaceQLD @BrisRacingClub pic.twitter.com/dwVpIcchUu

Trent Edmonds said, “From the time he ran second last year we hatched a plan. He is just a star, horses don’t do what he does and he is a winning machine.”
Tyzone has now won 17 of his 41 starts over five seasons for career earnings of $1.2 million, a handsome return on the $60,000 paid for him at the 2015 Magic Millions 2YOs in Training Sale where he was offered by Kenmore Lodge.
Bred by MVO Industries, Tyzone is the best of five foals left by the Arrowfield-bred-&-sold mare Rezonet (by Hussonet), a winning half-sister to Group-placed winner Spirited Eagle from the New Zealand family of Group 1 winners Final Destination & Irish Fling, and dual Group 2 winner Society Bay.
Tyzone completed a notable day for former Arrowfield resident Hussonet, also the damsire of the J.J. Atkins S. G1 winner Rothfire.
Written Tycoon is closing on his third $10 million domestic season, and his tally of 8 individual stakeswinners equals his career-best record of 2017/18. Tyzone joins record-breaking Oakleigh Plate G1 winner Pippie and Gold Coast & Gosford Guineas winner Hightail at the head of Written Tycoon’s 151 Australian winners of 237 races in 2019/20.
Those statistics put Written Tycoon 2nd on the current General Sires’ Premiership by wins and 3rd by winners and for the fifth consecutive season, he is holding a top 10 spot by prizemoney.
