New 2YO Stakeswinner for Maurice

After The Autumn Sun, Dundeel & Snitzel compiled a Group-winning treble at Caulfield, naturally Maurice had to chime in from Japan!

His 2YO son Danon Ayers Rock stretched out generously up the long Tokyo straight to win the Ivy S. 1800m LR by three-quarters of a length, and boost the records of both his illustrious parents.

He is Maurice’s 20th stakeswinner (and the third to earn that status at two) and the second stakeswinner, after multiple Group winner Primo Scene, left by 4-time Australian Group 1 winner Mosheen.

Australian-bred Group 1-winning mares owned by Northern Farm are on a roll in Japan lately. Superstar filly Liberty Island (Duramente-Yankee Rose) won last weekend’s Shuka Sho G1, and Durezza (Duramente-More Than Sacred) won this weekend’s Kikuka Sho G1.

Danon Ayers Rock made ¥450 million (~$4.8 million) for Northern Farm at the 2022 JRHA Yearling Sale and he is raced by leading owner Masahiro Noda’s Danox Co. Ltd. His half-sister Riversleigh (by Duramente) has an outstanding yearling colt by Kizuna for Arrowfield’s Class of 2024.

Maurice’s affinity with mares by sons of Danehill is well-established. That nick has produced 7 stakeswinners 66 named foals bred that way, including Group 1 winners Hitotsu & Mazu, all of his 2YO stakeswinners and Maurice’s latest Australian black type winner Ganbare.
