Timeless treasures

There’s no better example of the impact a great broodmare can have upon an entire industry than ‘blue hen’ Denise’s Joy, based for much of her breeding life at Arrowfield.

Herself a multiple Group 1 winner, she anchors the female line of 88 stakeswinners, 14 of them at the elite level including Arrowfield graduates Joie Denise, Secret Agenda & Sunday Joy.

A quarter-century after her death, Denise’s Joy remains a significant influence, and she appears in the pedigrees of Arrowfield’s 2025 Easter yearlings Lot 24, the Snitzel-Later Gator colt and Lot 81, the Too Darn Hot-Negotiate colt.

A further 10 yearlings in the draft are out of Arrowfield-bred mares, including Champion 3YO Filly Shoals and her sister Tides, Group 1 winner & stakes producer Stay With Me, and Group 1 producers Honesty Prevails, Salutations & Star Pupil.

In all, 26 yearlings offered at Australasia’s most select sale are out of Arrowfield graduate mares.

Then there’s the list of recent 7-figure race fillies & broodmares, featuring multiple Group 1 placegetter Tutta La Vita (sold for $3.2 million), dual Group 1 winner Coolangatta’s dam Piping Hot ($3 million), two-time Group winner Autumn Ballet ($1.6 million) & Australian Oaks G1 winner Autumn Angel ($1.225 million) – all originally purchased from Arrowfield as Inglis Easter yearlings for a total of little more than $1 million.

Arrowfield’s 2025 Inglis Easter draft includes 14 glorious fillies, by Dundeel, Frankel, I Am Invincible, Maurice, Palace Pier, Pinatubo, Snitzel & The Autumn Sun, with maximum potential to enhance their value on the track and throughout their lives.
