Meet Snitzel’s 45th millionaire

Snitzel, seen here with Arrowfield's Stallion Manager Joe Hickey, has more than 170 foals from his final two superbly bred crops, bred on his career-high fee of $247,500 inc. GST, to continue building his stellar record in the seasons to come. (PHOTO: Joan Faras)

His name is Yorkshire and he runs with the straight-up, resilient spirit of his namesake English county.

On Saturday the 5YO son of Snitzel kicked clear of all challengers at Randwick to win his second Sydney feature, the $2 million ATC The Ingham 1600m G2.

That takes his record to 8 wins and two placings from 11 starts for earnings of $1,664,050, which ranks him No. 20 on the list of Snitzel’s 45 worldwide A$1 million+ earners.

Heading the list is dual Everest hero & Champion Sprinter Redzel ($16.4 million prizemoney), followed by 4-time Group 1 winner & Champion 3YO Colt Trapeze Artist ($5.5 million), Hong Kong Derby LR winner Cap Ferrat ($4.3 million), Champion 2YO Shinzo ($3.9 million) and Champion 2YO Filly Away Game ($3.7 million).

Co-trainer Tom Charlton said, “His record sums him up as a horse. Up the running there, he was having a look around. I think he’s not the finished article yet, which is exciting.”

Yorkshire’s Ingham victory earns a ballot exemption for the 2026 $4 million Doncaster Mile G1 over the same course & distance on Day 1 of The Championships, 4 April.

Yorkshire (ex Chanteline by Majesticperfection) was bred by S F Bloodstock and purchased for $575,000 by PR Funds from Newgate Farm at Inglis Easter. PR Thoroughbreds’ principals Rob Roulston & Mark Player are among the gelding’s owners, along with a large group of partners including Gerry Ryan, Neil Werrett, Colin Madden, Musk Creek Farm & Rifa Mustang.

Chanteline has a yearling colt by I Am Invincible and a 2025 filly by Extreme Choice, while Snitzel has 21 fillies & 16 colts from his penultimate crop catalogued for January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
