Dundeel’s third stakeswinner in 15 days
Victoria Quay’s Wakeful S. G2 and Ain’tnodeeldun’s Batman S. LR at Flemington gave rising star sire Dundeel a notable Cup Week double.
Now Dundeel’s first-crop son Truly Great has notched up his fourth straight win in the $150,000 Perth Racing R.J. Peters S. 1500m G3. The race honours the 5YO gelding’s owner-breeder Bob Peters who, with his wife Sandra, has achieved exceptional long-term success across Australia.

Backed into hot favouritism at his first try in stakes company after three straight city wins, Truly Great produced a sharp sprint on the rain-affected ground at Ascot to defeat Flow & Moschard by 1.5 and three lengths.
This was the first leg of an Arrowfield-sired double for the Peters’ and their trainers Grant & Alana Williams, who also won the Colonel Reeves S. G3 with their 4YO Redoute’s Choice mare Celebrity Queen.
Truly Great is out of the city winner Truly Special (by Jeune), a $130,000 yearling purchase in 2008 for Peters Investments, and also the dam of WA Oks G3 winner Special Alert (by Not A Single Doubt). She is due to foal again to Dundeel this month.
Dundeel’s latest trio of stakeswinners takes his career tally to 13 from 191 runners, headed by Group 1 winners Castelvecchio, Super Seth, Yourdeel & Atyaab. Truly Great will attempt to join them when he backs up in next Saturday’s $1 million Railway S. G1.
By co-incidence, 13 is also the number of Dundeel yearlings catalogued for the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, among them three colts and a filly in the Arrowfield consignment.
