Dundeel’s 5th Group 1 winner is Truly Great!
Truly Great, the horse that owner-breeder Bob Peters describes as “one of the best types I’ve ever bred”, lived up to his name with a superb victory in Saturday’s $1 million Kingston Town Classic 1800m G1.
The 5YO gelding is the fifth Group 1 winner among the 13 stakeswinners that herald Dundeel’s arrival as a heavyweight among Australia’s next generation of leading sires.

Truly Great is a year-younger half-brother of WA Oaks G3 winner Special Alert (by Not A Single Doubt), out of the city-winning mare Truly Special. She is a daughter of Horse of the Year Jeune whose Peters-owned daughters have contributed six stakeswinners to his record as a broodmare sire.
Truly Special has had an annual date with Dundeel since 2014, producing two more geldings yet to race, 4YO Truly Inspired & 3YO Special Deal, followed by a pair of fillies, 2YO Truly Blessed and a 2020 filly.
Truly Great, also the winner of last month’s R.J. Peters S. G3, joins Wakeful S. G2 winner Victoria Quay & dual Listed winner Ain’tnodeeldun to head a large and progressive group of Dundeel progeny ready to make an even bigger mark on Autumn 2021 racing in Australia.
Truly Great’s $597,000 share of the Kingston Town prizemoney take Dundeel’s Australian season earnings to $3.4 million and return him to the top 20 on the General Sires’ Premiership.
Dundeel has 13 yearlings catalogued for Magic Millions 2021, including three colts and a filly in the Arrowfield draft.
