Arrowfield-sired trio tackle Magic Millions 2YO Classic

Australia’s three leading 2YO sires, all standing at Arrowfield, will each field a runner in today’s $2 million GCTC Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (R) LR.

Current table leader Charge Forward will be represented by Change of Honour (ex More Laurels by More Than Ready) who won on debut at Caulfield on 8 December.

He is eligible for the $500,000 Magic Millions Racing Women’s Bonus, which will be distributed among the first four runners past the post that are raced entirely by women.

Change of Honour was bred by Michelle & the late Phillip Esplin and sold by Twin Palms Stud for $62,500 to BC3 Thoroughbreds. He is trained by Gillian Heinrich for owners Debbie Badcock, Susan Bettridge, Juleen Currie, Sally Marshall, Lyn McDonogh, Rebecca O’Neil, Joy Owsnett, Ally Pender, Sharon Rowe, Helen Russell, Kathryn Sutherland, Carol Trewhella, Joanne Vlahos, Jess Williams & Cally Wishart.

Charge Forward’s daughter Assail was the favourite for the Magic Millions Classic until her late scratching this morning due to a hoof abscess.

Snitzel has the filly Sweet Idea (ex Flidais by Timber Country) who won on debut at Randwick in October, and was second in the BRC B.J. McLachlan S. G3 on 29 December.

Bred by the Arrowfield & Jungle Pocket partnership and sold by Arrowfield, Sweet Idea was purchased for $240,000 by her trainer Gai Waterhouse & bloodstock agent James Harron, and her owners include David & Luke Henderson, Nick Vass, and Gold Coast Suns star Campbell Brown.

Sweet Idea is among the five stakes performers from Arrowfield’s 2012 Magic Millions draft. The 2013 Arrowfield & Bellerive Stud consignments can be viewed here .

The Waterhouse stable will also present Not A Single Doubt ‘s daughter Certitude (ex Debutante Robe by Admire Vega) who won by 5 lengths at Rosehill in November, and followed up with a good fourth in the Wyong Magic Millions race.

Certitude was bred by Richard Pegum and purchased for $140,000 by Star Thoroughbreds from the Newgate Farm draft. She is raced by Mr F.A. Kennedy, Mrs B.L. Kennedy, Mr B.A. Webb, Mrs J.A. Marks, Ms N.J. Saunders, Mr J.J. Watts, Boeara Holdings & Mr S.J. Tucker.

Not A Single Doubt has already sired a Magic Millions 2YO winner, the flying filly Karuta Queen in 2011.

Gai Waterhouse quinella-ed the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic with the Star Thoroughbreds filly Driefontein and Redoute’s Choice‘s daughter No Looking Back (also raced by the Hendersons & Nick Vass) who will renew their rivalry in today’s $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (R) LR.
