Animal Kingdom states his case
Animal Kingdom isn’t on this year’s Arrowfield Stallion Roster, but he has a couple of quality 3YOs, both graduates of the Stud, putting up a strong case for his future prospects as a sire in Australia.
Today at Morphettville his daughter Earth Angel, an Arrowfield home-bred produced a staunch run for second in the $175,000 SAJC SA Fillies Classic 2500m G3, her third placing from five starts in stakes company this Autumn.
As a daughter of Champion filly Miss Finland and half-sister to Group 1 winner Stay With Me, Earth Angel is already a valuable filly. However, she looks more than capable of doing her own work to enhance her status.
Another member of Animal Kingdom’s 2014 crop, Katsumi Yoshida’s home-bred colt Peaceful State has put together two really impressive Listed victories at Morphettville, in the HC Nitschke S. LR and last weekend’s Adelaide Guineas LR.
They came after his resolute second in Grunt’s Australian Guineas G1, and his season isn’t finished yet. He now goes to Queensland for either the Queensland Derby G1 or the Stradbroke Handicap G1 on 9 June.
Peaceful State, a half-brother to Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler, is Animal Kingdom’s fifth stakeswinner, and the first from his first Australian crop.
Animal Kingdom is fifth on the Australian Second Season Sires’ list with $1.2 million and his top-priced 2018 Australian yearling, the colt out of Double Ranga, sold for $350,000 at Inglis Easter.
