Anders sizzles in the San Domenico
Arrowfield graduate Anders was the talk of the town after his scintillating victory in Saturday’s $160,000 ATC San Domenico S. 1100m G3 in 1:02.67 – just 0.16 second outside the 13 year-old track record.
Sent forward by James McDonald soon after the start, the 3YO son of Not A Single Doubt reeled off sectional times of 10.40, 10.45 and 10.94 to gap the field. There was barely time to wonder if Anders could finish it off before it was obvious he could, and although Peltzer chased hard and Mamaragan finished strongly, his 3.3 length margin was never threatened.
What a performance from Anders! The sustained speed was seriously impressive to take out the TAB San Domenico for @cmaherracing! pic.twitter.com/lAJE1yBYJ0

Spring Group 1 targets abound in front of Anders who is nominated for the Golden Rose & Caulfield Guineas, with the Moir Stakes pencilled in and Everest slot-holders no doubt paying close attention.
Co-trainer Ciaron Maher said, “I wouldn’t be afraid to put him into any race. I was saying to one of the owners that he is possibly our best. I was hoping he would do something like that today.
“He stretched, he’s strong but was a little bit keen today. I might have been a bit soft on him. He’s a very exciting horse.”
Anders earned stakes-winning status at his previous start in The Rosebud LR three weeks ago and is now Not A Single Doubt’s 46th Group winner. He is the third Arrowfield graduate to win the San Domenico in the past decade, after Snitzerland (by Snitzel) in 2012 and Pariah (by Redoute’s Choice) in 2017.
Bought for $670,000 by Aquis Farm and Ciaron Maher from Arrowfield at Magic Millions 2019, Anders is the fourth foal of Madame Andree (by War Emblem), also the dam of speedy two-time winner Madame Pauline (by Redoute’s Choice) and stakes-placed winner Battleground (by Snitzel).
Madame Andree has a 2YO colt by Shalaa, purchased for $360,000 by George Moore Bloodstock & Gary Moore Racing from Arrowfield’s 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast draft, and a yearling filly by Snitzel. The mare is due to foal to Pariah next month and is booked to The Autumn Sun, while Madame Pauline and her full sister Nancy Grace will visit Shalaa & Castelvecchio respectively.
