Arrowfield’s most exciting young Sire Dundeel opened his new season Stakes account with a bang on Saturday with Super Seth taking out the Group III MRC HDF McNeil Stakes over 1200 metres giving the stallion his 9th Stakeswinner from only just over 100 runners.

The colt bred and sold under the Arrowfield banner had a promising start to his career with three starts as a two-year-old for two wins and a third in the Anzac Day Listed Stakes, so expectations were high for his return this Spring.

Prepared by Anthony Freedman and ridden by Mark Zahra, Super Seth settled off the pace, before hitting the line hard to win by a length and a quarter over his stable mate King of Hastings.

Freedman said Super Seth was likely to head to the Group Two Danehill Stakes at Flemington on September 14.

“He’ll probably go to Flemington in two weeks’ time and have a run up the straight and from there to the Guineas Prelude (1400m),” said Anthony Freedman.

A $280,000 purchase at the Inglis Easter (Book II) Sale for Dean Hawthorne, the colt is out of Redoute’s Choice mare Salutations, who is due to foal to Dundeel this season and already the dam of Stakeswinner Wild Planet.

It has been an exciting few weeks for Dundeel with Stakes winning Spring contenders The Inevitable and Cutadeel (NZ) returning with first up wins and 3yo’s Profit (ex Opportunity) and Mystery Trick (ex Lady Who) both winning on debut.

Dundeel is set to cover a stellar line up of mares this season, fully booked at $66,000 inc GST.
