Not A Single Doubt’s seriously impressive season

Snitzel’s record-smashing season has deservedly attracted the lion’s share of industry attention, but his barnmate Not A Single Doubt has been compiling a seriously impressive season record of his own.

On the Australian General Sires’ Premiership he’s been in the top half-dozen since his son Mighty Boss won the MRC Caulfield Guineas G1 last October.

His current prizemoney of $10.4 million isn’t his best-ever total – he ended 2015/16 in second position with $12.4 million behind Street Cry . However, it is his fourth consecutive season among Australia’s top 10 sires, something only Snitzel (who’s been there since 2012), Fastnet Rock (since 2010), Street Cry and Sebring can also claim.

But that’s not all. Not A Single Doubt is a member of the select quartet that appears in the top 10 on the 2017/18 General, 2YO and 3YO Sires’ Premierships. (The others are Snitzel, who heads all three lists, I Am Invincible & Sebring).

It’s been a year of quality too. Not A Single Doubt is fourth on the General list by stakeswinners with 16, just one behind Fastnet Rock & I Am Invincible, both with more runners. Nine of these 16 have been Group winners including 3YOs Mighty Boss, Summer Sham, Champagne Cuddles & Special Alert.

He’s also put up four 2YO stakeswinners (the fillies Qafila, Fundamentalist & Granny Red Shoes, and the colt Not A Single Cent, pictured, winning the VRC Sires’ Produce S. G2) and it was his 2015 crop that produced his 100th Australian winner for the season. That milestone was reached on Monday when the Mick Kent-trained filly Cupidity won on debut at Moe.

She is Not A Single Doubt’s 17th individual winner from 29 2YO runners in Australia this term, which puts him on top of that table, alongside first season sire Spirit of Boom, with 17 winners from 48 runners.

That sets up a secondary contest which will undoubtedly add interest to the final six weeks of the season.
