Record-breaking Snitzerland is Snitzel's 4th stakeswinner this month

Seven years after Snitzel won the Challenge S. G2 at Warwick Farm his sensational daughter Snitzerland has won it too, and gone one better by setting a new track record of 56.16 seconds for the 1000 metres. That’s 0.64 faster than Dad achieved in 2006.

With only four crops of racing age, Snitzel is 8th on the General Australian Sires’ list and has 7 stakeswinners so far this season – four of them (Sweet Idea, Flying Snitzel, Petrol Power & Snitzerland) successful since the beginning of March.

It was a superlative performance by the 3YO Arrowfield-bred filly at her first start since November. She began well for jockey Corey Brown but was held off the lead by outstanding comeback sprinter Hay List until about 300 metres from home.

When Brown released her, Snitzerland accelerated in true championship style to win by 2.75 lengths from Decision Time, with Howmuchdoyouloveme a half-length back in third and a brave Hay List fourth.

Ryan said of Snitzerland, ?She’s a little ripper. I was surprised when Hay List led her but I knew fitness was never going to beat her.?

Snitzerland has now won 7 of her 12 starts, including five Group races, and $1.4 million prizemoney for her owners Neil Werrett & Steve McCann. Her next goal is a Group 1 victory which she will seek in The Galaxy at Rosehill in a fortnight.

She heads the list of 11 current season stakeswinners sold by Arrowfield Stud or its sister farm Bellerive. The other ten stakes-winning graduates are: Group winners Sweet Idea, Flying Snitzel, Lunar Rise, Direct Charge & Startsmeup and Listed Race winners Assail, Crack A Roadie, Members Joy, She’s Clean & Urban Groove.

Snitzerland’s dam Monte Rosa (by Fraar, who died at Cornerstone Stud on Friday) is an unraced sister to Group 3 winner Nina Haraka. Monte Rosa foaled a brother to Snitzerland last spring.
