Global Balance makes 99 not out for Redoute's Choice
Global Balance is a particularly apt name for the 3YO filly that has brought up a lifetime tally of 99 stakeswinners for the currently French-based champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice .
Global Balance won this evening’s $100,000 TTC Tasmanian Oaks 2100m LR for her owner-breeder Jonathan Munz, also responsible for earlier Redoute’s Choice stakeswinners Sharkbite (No. 37), Rekindled Interest (No. 67) and Mama’s Choice (No. 81).

Apt too, that this latest stakeswinner is trained by David Hayes, whose marvellous success with the champion sire’s progeny began with Group 1 winners Miss Finland, Anamato and Nadeem, and has continued this season thanks to 3YOs Alzora, Rawnaq, Maraatib & Rose Pattern and now the dark brown daughter of Balance of Nature.
Global Balance was well-positioned at Mowbray, where she settled nicely on the fence, just behind the leaders in a slowly run race. She was driven into space by jockey Stephen Baster on the home turn to join battle with the resolute First Bloom. The pair prevailed in a high-pressure finish to score by a half-head, and then had to survive a protest before the result was confirmed.
The Tasmanian Oaks is Global Balance’s second win from five starts, following her maiden win last month and a solid fifth in the TRC Strutt S. LR won by Flying Spur’s daughter Green Roller 10 days ago. Green Roller is also a Munz home-bred trained by David Hayes.
Global Balance’s pedigree is a case study in breeding back to the female family of a dominant stallion. Her dam Balance of Nature, a Storm Cat half-sister to champion miler & leading sire Spinning World, was imported from Great Britain by Jonathan Munz’ GSA Bloodstock in 2008 and has produced two fillies to Redoute’s Choice: Global Balance and a 2012 foal.
Balance of Nature and Redoute’s Choice share their fourth dam, champion US broodmare Best In Show, through her two Sir Ivor daughters Minnie Hauk (foaled in 1975) and Show Lady (1976). A similar pattern can be seen in the pedigree of Rekindled Interest and his Group 2-placed brother Rekindled Alliance, showing tail-female descent from Best In Show’s half-sister Stolen Date.
Redoute’s Choice now has 13 stakeswinners worldwide this season, and Global Balance is the 10th stakeswinner from his 2009 crop.

A stunning consignment of 34 Redoute’s Choice yearlings will be offered at the Inglis Australian Easter Sale in April, among them a three-quarter brother to Rekindled Interest in the Bellerive draft, and Gilgai Farm’s much-awaited half-brother to world champion sprinter Black Caviar, in the draft of Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.
