Fourth Singapore stakes win for Flying Fulton

Flying Fulton‘s fourth Singapore Group race success last evening was the perfect end to the marvellous 6YO gelding’s best-ever season.

He unwound his characteristically powerful finish to claim the $S175,000 Colonial Chief Stakes 1700m Sgp-3, take his record to 11 wins & 12 placings and become the latest million-dollar earner for his owners Te Akau Racing, trainer Mark Walker and champion sire Flying Spur .

Walker said the Polytrack, on which Flying Fulton has been successful at six of his nine victories in Singapore, ideally suited the gelding.

“He just loves the Polytrack,” said Walker. “He’s got a great record on it but he’s also been a terrific horse for us here in Singapore right from day one. He won his first race for us when he came up here and he’s still winning feature races.”

Flying Fulton will now be aimed at the New Year Cup Sgp-3 on 1 January and then the Woodlands Classic Stakes Sgp-3 over 2000 metres in February.

Flying Fulton was bred in New Zealand by Tony & Joe Bongiorno, and has three full-siblings, including Min River, a winner in Melbourne last season, and an unraced 2YO filly named Lasered. Their dam, the Zabeel mare Fulton, is now owned by Jonathan Munz’ GSA Bloodstock and has a positive test to Redoute’s Choice.

Flying Fulton is one of his champion sire’s 86 stakeswinners. Flying Spur is represented by 31 yearlings in the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, including two fillies and a colt in the Arrowfield draft .
