Week of multi-national success for Redoute’s Choice
Success in Japan today caps a fine week of international performances for champion sire Redoute’s Choice , who is enjoying another outstanding season, especially with his 3YOs.
Today’s Japanese win was supplied by 3YO filly Clianthus, who won over 1400m on turf at Kyoto. Conceived in Australia to northern time, and bred in Japan by Sunday Racing Co. Ltd, the filly from Flower Park (by Nihon Pillow Winner) won by 1.5 lengths in a time of 1.22.7.
It was Clianthus’ third start and she joins Jacaranda Terrace (ex Unearthly by Zabeel) and Ranryoo (ex Hollow Bullet by Tayasu Tsuyoshi) as 3YO winners by Redoute’s Choice in Japan this year.
Redute’s Choice’s small contingent of northern hemisphere performers in 2010 also includes two winners in England, Elzaam (three times placed in Group company, most notably in the Royal Ascot Coventry S. G2, after an impressive maiden victory) and Tazahum, an easy debut winner at Kempton Park in September.
Clianthus’ win is the 7th by the Redoute’s Choice tribe in the past week, following victories by Metallurgical, War Ends, Lucky Angel and Sikka in Australia, Redessi in New Zealand and Redoute Star in Hong Kong.
3YO filly Tranquility gained a second stakes placing when second in yesterday’s WATC Jungle Dawn Classic 1400m LR, won by Premardal in scintillating track record time of 1.20.90.
Redoute’s Choice heads the Australian 3YO Sires’ list with $1.1 million prizemoney and 23 winners, and is second on the equivalent list in New Zealand where his daughter King’s Rose won the CJC NZ 1000 Guineas G1 to become his 19th individual Group 1 winner earlier this month.
There are 17 yearlings by Redoute’s Choice catalogued for the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, including four fillies and a colt in the Arrowfield draft .
