Three milestones in one for Snitzel filly

Arrowfield graduate filly Lady Shenandoah hit three milestones when victorious in Saturday’s $250,000 ATC Ming Dynasty Quality 1400m G3.

It was both her maiden win and first stakes success, at only her third start, and she is Champion Sire Snitzel’s 147th stakeswinner.

She is now on the third line of betting for the Flight S. G1 on 5 October where she would meet her stablemate Autumn Glow (by The Autumn Sun), who happens to be raced by Lady Shenandoah’s owner Hermitage Thoroughbreds and co-breeder Arrowfield Stud.

Hermitage & Arrowfield also share the ownership of The Autumn Sun’s promising son Matusalem who posted his 5th win and first test over 2400 metres earlier on the Rosehill card.

All three horses are prepared by champion trainer Chris Waller and his team who recorded five winners on Saturday, four in Sydney and a Listed winner at Flemington.

Jockey Jay Ford said of Lady Shenandoah, “She’s high class, the stable gave me a very big push for her. They said she’s quite a quality horse and she’d come back and only had one trial. Straight to a 1400, had a lovely run rounding them up really nicely.

“She’s well on her way…for a maidener to come and break straight into black type augurs well for the path ahead she’s going to take.”

Bred by Arrowfield & Planette Thoroughbred, and purchased for $525,000 by Hermitage at Inglis Easter, Lady Shenandoah is the fifth foal of Star Pupil, a Paul Messara-trained winning daughter of Starcraft and grand producer Ain’t Seen Nothin’.

Star Pupil, also the dam of Hong Kong Group 1 winner & young sire Stronger (by Not A Single Doubt), has a yearling colt by Maurice and visits Snitzel again this Spring.

It’s less than seven weeks into the new season and already Snitzel sits on top of the Australian 3YO Sires’ table, holds 3rd spot on the General Sires’ Premiership and is 4th on the Broodmare Sires’ list.
