Three cheers for Snitzel!
Snitzel tightens his hold on a fourth Australian 2YO Sires’ Premiership thanks to Hip Hip Hurrah who showed plenty of grit to take out the Scone RC Woodlands S. 1100m LR from Dipsy Doodle and Arrowfield’s home-bred filly Miracle Of Love (Dundeel-Miss Finland).
Even better, Hip Hip Hurrah broke the class record set in the 2022 running of the race by subsequent dual Group 1 winner In Secret.
It was the second win from two starts for Go Bloodstock Australia’s home-bred filly who becomes the 52nd 2YO stakeswinner of Snitzel’s career, and his 18th individual stakeswinner this season. She is Snitzel’s third winner of the Woodlands Stakes, after Debonairly (2017) & Macroura (2020).
Hip Hip Hurrah’s jockey Brett Prebble said, “She is professional, and I might have gotten there too soon…She is getting better and will be a nice filly going forward.”

Hip Hip Hurrah is the only foal left by the dual Group 2 winner Pure Elation (by I Am Invincible) who died foaling in the UK last year. She is from a family noted for quality female performers: her stakes-winning grand-dam Members Joy (bred by Michael Pitt and sold by Arrowfield) is the half-sister of Rosarian (dam of recent Oaks-placed Group winner Jennilala), both of them out of Group winner Rosa’s Spur, herself a daughter of Group winner Rosa’s Joy.
Already a 3-time Champion 2YO sire, Snitzel leads Exceed and Excel & I Am Invincible on the 2022/23 list with $4.4 million prizemoney and 10 winners, including Golden Slipper G1-winning colt Shinzo, Sydney Group 3 winners Amur & Empire Of Japan, Hip Hip Hurrah and stakes-placed Waimarie.
Add New Zealand fillies, the Listed winner Ethereal Star & stakes-placed Rhetorical, and Snitzel’s Class of 2020 has already produced 7 stakes performers from its first 31 runners.
