The Class of 2008 strikes again
Justly famous as a sire of 2YOs, Redoute’s Choice is enjoying a bountiful season with his current crop of 3YOs.

Arrowfield graduate Saint la Bamba (ex La Bamba by Last Tycoon) became the latest winner from his crop of 2008 when he scored at Hawkesbury yesterday. That took Redoute’s Choice’s tally of 3YO winners since 1 August to thirty – 28 of them in Australia, and two in New Zealand.
They include a pair of talented colts that have already put their names in black capitals: Galah, winner of the VRC Carbine Club S. G3 & MRC Gothic S. LR, and the New Zealand-based Burgundy, winner of the Canterbury S. LR at his third start. Cross of Gold, Florentina & Rekindled Alliance have also earned black type this season.
Saint la Bamba’s win followed the debut successes of the filly Outdoor (ex Serenade Rose by Stravinsky) at Bendigo on 24 November, and Arrowfield-bred and -owned Blather (ex Miss Babble by Sunday Silence) at the Sunshine Coast on 27 November. Sadly, Outdoor’s win came just three weeks after the death of her mother, winner of the VRC Oaks G1, AJC Australian Oaks G1 and STC Arrowfield Stud S. G1.
Redoute’s Choice heads the current Australian General Sires’ list with $4.3 million prizemoney and 73 winners in all – six of them in black type company.
There are only 15 opportunities to buy yearlings by Redoute’s Choice at January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, where his represented by his smallest draft since the 2006 Sale. The 2012 offering includes Lot 35 in the Arrowfield draft , a lovely athletic colt from Hustle Bustle, already the dam of Group 2 winner Hurried Choice.
