Ten-length win by Redoute’s Choice colt

Trainer David Hayes and owner Shadwell Stud unleashed one of the most dominant maiden winners of the season so far when the 3YO Redoute’s Choice colt Mukarrar (ex Back Pass by Quest for Fame) ran out a ten-length winner over 1900m at Geelong this afternoon. His ease at the distance and efficient galloping action look tailormade for the 2500 metres of the VRC Victoria Derby G1 at Flemington on 30 October.

A brother to the stakeswinner Sharkbite, from the family of celebrated broodmare Hasili, Mukarrar was a $525,000 purchase from the Glenlogan Stud draft at the 2009 Australian Easter Yearling Sale. He is the seventh individual 3YO winner by Redoute’s Choice in Australia this season, and not the only one with ‘classic prospect’ written all over him.

Redoute’s Choice, who was officially named Champion Sire of Australia, 2009/10, in Melbourne on Sunday evening, stands at Arrowfield in 2010 at a fee of $176,000 (inc. GST).
