Switzerland wins the G2 Roman Consul Stakes
Whatever decision Coolmore make about their slot in next Saturday’s $20 million The Everest, Switzerland’s victory in Saturday’s $300,000 Roman Consul S. 1200m G2 at Rosehill confirms his progress from very smart juvenile to classy sprinting 3YO.
Trainer Chris Waller is happy to leave the decision to Coolmore, but did say, “We had Yes Yes Yes in [The Everest] and he won it. And this horse is every bit as good as Yes Yes Yes.”
Does this change the Everest picture?

Jockey Nash Rawiller said, “Yeah, what a colt…I loved the way he relaxed today and he was explosive when I went for him…He’s got a real x-factor about him. And today was my honour to ride him.”
The Arrowfield graduate colt was rated 117 by Timeform, above Broadsiding & Storm Boy, after three consecutive 2YO wins, culminating in the Todman S. G2. Whether or not he makes The Everest field, he looks capable of improving on that figure this season.
Bred by Arrowfield and Cloros Bloodstock, Switzerland is the first foal of the US Grade 2 winner Ms Bad Behavior (by noted broodmare sire Blame) and was purchased by Tom Magnier for $1.5 million from Arrowfield at Inglis Easter 2023.
Arrowfield and its stallions are responsible for 5 of the 8 stakeswinners that have so far emerged from that sale: G1 winner Lady Shenandoah (by Snitzel), G2 winners Switzerland & Autumn Glow (by The Autumn Sun) and Listed winners Femminile (by Dundeel) & Gatsby’s (by Snitzel).
Ms Bad Behavior has behaved perfectly as a broodmare, producing three younger full brothers to Switzerland in as many years and she returns to Snitzel this Spring.
