Strong debut win by Magic Millions graduate
The Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes is the likely target for Arrowfield Magic Millions graduate Secret Agenda, who won her debut in brilliant fashion on Friday evening at Moonee Valley.
The 2YO daughter of Not A Single Doubt took up an early lead and showed plenty of strength to hold it, then kick clear on the turn to win by 3.5 lengths from Haybah and Ragazzo del Corsa. The filly’s winning time was 58.17 for the 1000-metre journey.
Jockey Damien Oliver said, “I had to use her up a little bit to hold the lead. Dwayne (Dunn) came across and I didn’t want to hand it up so I kicked on to hold it.
“She quickened up really well coming to the turn and I knew it was going to take a good horse to beat her. She won like a really good horse, it was a good win and she’s going places.”
Secret Agenda was a $120,000 purchase by Blueblood Thoroughbreds from the Arrowfield draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. She is trained by Mick Price for a group of owners managed by Blueblood’s David Mourad. The Blueblood colours are also carried by Not A Single Doubt’s smart 3YO son Berlutti, a winner in Melbourne earlier this season.
Secret Agenda’s win maintains a perfect record for her dam Negotiate (by Red Ransom), whose first three foals to race are also winners: Chivvy (Flying Spur; city winner) , Sweetener (Snitzel; winner & Group-placed at two) and Final Agreement (Not A Single Doubt; 2YO winner).
Negotiate, an unraced daughter of Group 1-winning juvenile Euphoria, from the Denise’s Joy family, has a Smart Missile colt in the Arrowfield draft for January’s Magic Millions Sale. The mare produced a filly to Smart Missile in September, and is once again in foal to the brilliant son of Fastnet Rock.
Secret Agenda is the fourth 2YO winner in Australia this season for Not A Single Doubt, whose 22 lifetime stakeswinners already include the 2013 Blue Diamond winner Miracles of Life.
The son of Redoute’s Choice has 17 yearlings catalogued for the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, and 10 lots in the Inglis Classic Sale. The Arrowfield consignments for those sales include three fillies and a colt by Not A Single Doubt.
