Starry fillies give Not A Single Doubt a two-city double…
A pair of talented fillies gave Not A Single Doubt a metropolitan double in Melbourne & Sydney yesterday, and both look more than capable of success in stakes company.

Star Thoroughbreds’ Denise Martin was confident about the chances of 2YO Certitude before the filly’s debut over 1100 metres at Rosehill. “If she races up to her trial form, she will surely be very hard to beat.”
And so it proved, as the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly jumped quickly and settled to sit outside the leader until the turn, when jockey Tommy Berry asked her to quicken. She responded with alacrity to bounce clear of the field and win the $85,000 event by five lengths from Crazyonyou, with Artistic Lass 1.75 lengths back in third place.
Certitude’s winning time was 1.05.29, a new class record, and unsurprisingly, Denise confirmed after the race that she is now Magic Millions Classic-bound.
“When she trialled we thought she was special and I said to Tommy ‘how would you like to win the Magic Millions three years in a row,’ so she is on track, she is terrific.”
“She is very mature for a two-year-old filly, she handles everything very well, she is built like a two-year-old, races like a two-year-old and we just love her.”
Berry rode the brilliant Karuta Queen (also by Not A Single Doubt) to victory in the 2011 Magic Millions Classic, and was successful again this year on Driefontein.
Bred by Richard Pegum and purchased for $140,000 by Star Thoroughbreds from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, Certitude is Not A Single Doubt’s 53rd juvenile winner. Her earnings yesterday have lifted the son of Redoute’s Choice into third spot on the Australian 2YO Sires’ table – just behind his Arrowfield barn-mates Charge Forward and Snitzel.
At Moonee Valley 3YO Not A Single Doubt filly Isabella Snowflake made the most of her inside draw and her short-course speed to lead all the way and score by 2.25 lengths over 1000 metres from Genteel with Monogamy another half-length away in third place.
Isabella Snowflake (ex Tiamo Baby by Strategic) is raced in partnership by her breeder Craig McDonald and trained by Mick Price whose representative Luke Wilkinson indicated the filly would now go for a spell. Her record of three wins a Listed Race placing & $195,200 prizemoney from four starts looks very likely to be boosted when she returns to racing in the autumn.
Twenty-six yearlings by Not A Single Doubt are catalogued for the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, among them two Arrowfield Stud fillies, and a filly being offered by Bellerive Stud.
