Starcraft filly impresses in rich Inglis Nursery

Starcraft’s 2YO daughter Dual Star put up a brave fight to finish a close second in today’s $250,000 ATC Inglis Nursery, held over 1000 metres on the Kensington track at Randwick.

It was the second start for Dual Star, a $90,000 purchase by trainer Paul Messara from the Luskin Park Stud draft at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Sale. The bay filly raced on the speed, then kicked clear after the turn and responded gallantly as Mossfun (from the Snitzel mare Eye For Fun) challenged, and then prevailed to win by a head in a tick over 57 seconds.

Dual Star is raced by an enthusiastic group of owners including Arrowfield, Paul Favretto & Baggy Green Racing and the sources of her precocity are easy to find in a pedigree dripping with diamonds of the blue variety.

Her sire Starcraft is responsible for the 2010 Blue Diamond G1 winner Star Witness, and her dam Dual Diamond is, as her name suggests, the daughter of two Blue Diamond winners, champion sire Redoute’s Choice (successful in 1999) and True Jewels (2001).

Arrowfield will offer two yearlings by Starcraft at next month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, including a filly from the Redoute’s Choice mare Flowerchild. View Arrowfield’s 2014 Magic Millions draft here.
