Stakeswinner No. 14 for Shalaa
Arrowfield graduate Jennilala confirmed the promise of her debut win at The Valley last Spring with a solid victory in Saturday’s $127,000 Auraria S. 1800m G3 at Morphettville.
She will now join Affaire A Suivre and Running On Time to give the Maher-Eustace stable three strong winning chances in the $500,000 Australasian Oaks G1 on 29 April.

Jockey Declan Bates said, “From the tricky gate I thought it might have been difficult for her but she has that bit of class and that has shown through in the end.
“They really rolled along early and I was happy to let her travel where she was comfortable out the back and she put them away very nicely.”
Bred by Arrowfield & Paul Favretto, Jennilala is the fourth foal and third winner left by Rosarian (by Manhattan Rain), a half-sister to stakeswinner & Group producer Members Joy, both out of Group 3 winner Rosa’s Spur. Jennilala was purchased for $70,000 by owner Tony Ottobre from Arrowfield’s 2021 Inglis Classic draft.
Tony & his wife Lynn have already won the Australasian Oaks, in 2019 with Princess Jenni – named, like Jennilala, in memory of their daughter Jenni who died in 2015.
Rosarian has a 2YO colt by Shalaa and a yearling filly by Showtime.
Shalaa’s 2023 yearlings have sold up to $220,000, paid for a pair of colts at Magic Millions, with $180,000 paid for his top-priced filly at the same sale.
