Solar Charged electric at Caulfield

She’s gorgeous, blazingly fast and as genuine as the day is long – that’s Charge Forward ‘s 3YO daughter Solar Charged (ex Soul Singer by Danehill), pictured, with her jockey Nash Rawiller, and she proved it all again today at Caulfield.

Peter Horwitz‘s home-bred filly lined up in the MRC Thoroughbred Club S. 1200m G3 and gave her rivals no opportunity to plot an attack upon the lead which she took over soon after the start and held with ease, winning by 4.25 lengths in a time of 1.09.15, from Jesse’s Girl and Dance Of The Ocean (by Danzero ).

The win took Solar Charged’s earnings to $339,000 from 3 wins (two at Group 3 level), and 3 placings in an eight-start career, and she joins Decision Time, More Strawberries and Obsequious as 2010 Golden Slipper starters that have now won Group or Listed races at three.

And she’s not finished yet. The VRC Ascot Vale S. 1200m G1 on VRC Derby Day, 30 October, beckons, and why not? Another daughter of Charge Forward, Headway, won the race in 2009.

Solar Charged and Headway are two of the four Group winners Charge Forward has left in his first two crops – totalling just 129 foals. The others are G1 Response, and G3 Shrapnel, who is also targeting this year’s Ascot Vale Stakes.
