Snitzel’s sweet daughter third in the Golden Slipper
Six days after winning the world’s richest race, Arrowfield also played a part in the finish of the world’s richest 2YO race, the $3.5 million ATC Golden Slipper G1, thanks to a courageous run for third by Arrowfield graduate Sweet Idea.

The chestnut daughter of leading young sire Snitzel and Flidais (by Timber Country) was bred and sold by Arrowfield, with Gai Waterhouse & James Harron the successful buyers at $240,000 from the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. Sweet Idea is owned by Nick & Amy Vass, David & Luke Henderson, Wayne Cook, Danny Maher, Grant Scott, Campbell Brown, Beric Lynton, Gary & Graeme Diamond & Matt Allen.
Sweet Idea’s class is matched by a tough professionalism and she has compiled an admirable record of two wins and 4 placings from six starts, including a fighting second in January’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (R) LR and success in last month’s ATC Silver Slipper S. G2. Her Golden Slipper third adds $310,000 to her earnings which now stand at a very healthy $847,200.
Sweet Idea is the fifth Group 1 performer for Snitzel and his second Golden Slipper placegetter following last year’s Slipper runner-up Snitzerland (also second in last weekend’s ATC The Galaxy G1), Sizzling (winner of the BRC T.J. Smith S. G1), Hot Snitzel and Aliyana Tilde.
Snitzel is the sire of 13 stakeswinners, eight of them successful this season. March was a sensational month for Snitzel with Arrowfield & Bellerive graduates Snitzerland, Flying Snitzel, Aliyana Tilde and Sweet Idea all winning Group races, and 2YO colt Petrol Power taking out the Supremacy S. LR in Perth.
18 yearlings by Snitzel will be offered at this week’s Inglis Australian Easter Sale, including three colts and a filly in the Arrowfield draft – view them here .
