Snitzel’s petrol-powered spring
Today’s Blue Sapphire Stakes winner Snitzerland is the headline act, but she has plenty of support on Snitzel ‘s hit show this spring.
3YO colt Pronto Pronto took Snitzel’s tally of stakeswinners to ten with a win in the VRC Poseidon S. LR at Flemington on 6 October, and 4YO Snitzem added a second black type performance to his record at Moonee Valley in September.

4YO gelding Malavio won the ATC Civic S. LR at Rosehill in June and returned there today to score his 7th win despite going down on his nose at the start.
Trainer Steve Englebrecht told AAP, “He’s a young, strong horse who looks an ideal Villiers type. He is very exciting.” Malavio will now be set for December’s Villiers S. G2.
Raced by his breeder Ottavio Galletta, Malavio is from Win Here Win There (by Dehere), a city-winning daughter of stakeswinner Our Fiction. Win Here Win There foaled a filly by Snitzel last month.
Across in Perth, 2YO colt Petrol Power (ex Diamonds and Dust by Charnwood Forest) prevailed after a robust battle with Bonny Zara to score on debut for owner Sam Trimboli, who paid the top price of $240,000 for him at this year’s Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
This trio of wins in three states today have taken Snitzel past the million-dollar mark on the General Sires’ list where he holds 8th position with $1,250,330 and 25 winners.
And finally, let’s not forget Group 1 2YO winner Sizzling who made an impressive 3YO debut in the Blue Sapphire, just half a length from Snitzerland.
