Snitzel’s 50th 2YO stakeswinner
As Coolmore Australia tweeted, their home-bred colt Shinzo, by
Snitzel from Group 1 winner Samaready, is “bred to be a champion”.
After his assertive victory in Saturday’s $200,000 ATC Pago Pago S. 1200m G3 he will have his chance to add serious substance to that description in next Saturday’s Golden Slipper G1.

Jockey James McDonald is even more enthusiastic about Shinzo’s prospects as a 3YO.
“He’s a beautiful horse, there’s no two questions about that. Oozes so much quality, he’s just got three-year-old written all over him. What he’s doing now is just an absolute bonus. Can’t wait until he comes back as a three-year-old because I think we’ll see a fair dinkum horse.”
Shinzo is the 50th 2YO stakeswinner and SW No. 132 overall of Snitzel’s extraordinary career – a record that includes Golden Slipper winner Estijaab and four other Group 1-winning juveniles.
He is also the third Pago Pago winner, after Salade (2011) and Time For War (2014), and the 16th individual stakeswinner this season for the four-time Champion Sire.
Shinzo is the second foal, after his multiple stakes-winning full sister Exhilarates, out of Blue Diamond & Moir Stakes winner Samaready (by More Than Ready). Coolmore purchased Samaready, carrying Shinzo, for $1.8 million from the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale where she was offered by Vinery Stud.
Next month’s Inglis Easter Sale includes 40 yearlings by Snitzel, among them 6 colts & 6 fillies in Arrowfield’s consignment.
