Snitzel’s admirable daughter Vulpine added the 6th win and second stakes success to her record with a tenacious performance in Saturday’s $140,000 ATC Starlight S. 1100m LR at Rosehill.

The 5YO mare is Snitzel’s 10th stakeswinner this season, a list headed by Group 1 winners In The Congo, Wild Ruler & Yearning.

Bred by Fergus Doyle from Elusive Leone, an Elusive Quality half-sister to dual Group 1 winner and sire Star Witness, Vulpine is a 2018 Magic Millions graduate, bought by Andrew Williams Bloodstock & owner BK Racing for $340,000 from the Willow Park draft.

She also won last season’s Wenona Girl H. G3 and although her value as a broodmare is now considerable, trainer Brad Widdup looks forward to more success with her.

“Her work has been sharp at home. She is just a terrific mare…She’s a Snitzel, has won a couple of stakes races. So the price keeps going up.

“She is a Magic Millions horse, and there is no reason to stop now, so we will keep punching on.”

Vulpine is one of five stakeswinners from only 23 named foals bred on the Snitzel/Elusive Quality cross, joining Away Game and her sister Modern Wonder, Dracarys and Nomothaj.

The four-time Champion Sire has 44 lots catalogued for Magic Millions 2022, among them Kia-Ora Stud’s colt out of the Elusive Quality mare Jennifer Lynette, and 5 fillies & 4 colts in Arrowfield’s draft.
