Snitzel loads up his 109th stakeswinner
Almost three-quarters of Snitzel’s stakeswinners have achieved that status as 2YOs or 3YOs.
After his debut 2YO victory in April 2019, Arrowfield graduate Reloaded looked very likely to join them. Two starts later he was third behind Prince Fawaz in the J.J. Atkins S. G1 and at three he was Group 2-placed, then third in Castelvecchio’s Rosehill Guineas G1.
But his career has required a little more patience from trainer Chris Waller and a high-powered group of owners. Today Reloaded rewarded them with victory in the $125,000 BRC Members’ H. 1600m LR, becoming the 109th stakeswinner on Snitzel’s record.
The stable believes that like his VRC Oaks-winning dam Hollow Bullet (by Sunday Silence’s son Tayasu Tsyuoshi), Reloaded can do even more over a longer trip. He is among the nominations for the $1.2 million weight-for-age Q22 (P.J. O’Shea Stakes) over 2200 metres on 12 June.
Reloaded was a $350,000 Magic Millions buy from Arrowfield for Guy Mulcaster & the Harras Syndicate and his earnings now exceed $470,000.
Hollow Bullet’s 2YO son Silent Bullet (by Maurice) is in the Waterhouse & Bott stable, and her yearling filly by Maurice was bought for $200,000 by Ciaron Maher from Kulani Park at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. The mare’s 2020 foal is a filly by Pariah.
As for Snitzel, he has 12 stakeswinners this season and more than enough talent in play to enliven the final 11 weeks of 2020/21!
