Snitzel juveniles dominate at Caulfield
Only Not A Single Doubt, sire of third-placed Berlutti, spoiled Snitzel’s party in the $80,000 2YO contest at Caulfield on Saturday.
The race was won by the filly Royal Snitzel from the colt Zeletto (who won his first start by 5 lengths at Werribee last month) with Snitzel’s gelded son Tan Tat Sun running home well for fourth at his debut.
It was Royal Snitzel’s second win from two starts for owner-breeder United Syndications and trainer Mick Price who is enthusiastic about her Spring prospects.
“She is smart, sharp and we really like her sire Snitzel…She star-gazed when she won at Donald on debut, so I did think there was improvement in her and the plan may be to give her a little break and aim her at the Quezette or Vain Stakes.”
Royal Snitzel is the first foal of Royal Charades (by Royal Academy), winner of eight races including three in Melbourne, and also the dam of a weanling colt by Charge Forward.
Snitzel’s sensational season has included 13 individual juvenile winners in Australia, among them 8 stakes performers headed by dual Group 2 winner Time For War, Group 3 winner Oakleigh Girl and Melbourne stakeswinner Golconda.
Snitzel’s weekend results have consolidated his second position behind Redoute’s Choice on the Australian General Sires’ list with $9.6 million prizemoney.
