Snitzel’s 4YO son Transatlantic confirmed the promise he’s shown since his maiden win as a Winter juvenile with a decisive victory in the $160,000 BRC Spear Chief H. 1500m LR at Eagle Farm, the 6th win of his 16-start, $600,000 career.
He brings up a fresh set of numbers for his great Champion Sire who notches up 20 stakeswinners in a season for the third time, after compiling 29 in 2016/17, and 28 in 2017/18. His 2024/25 tally is headed by Group 1 winners Lady Shenandoah, Switzerland, Marhoona and Return To Conquer, as well as Hong Kong Derby winner Cap Ferrat.
Transatlantic is also Snitzel’s 160th stakeswinner, adding stakes win number 309 to a lifetime record of rare scope, achievement & quality.

After the race, trainer Tony Gollan made it clear he’s hoping Transatlantic can start in next Saturday’s $3 million Stradbroke G1. “He just travelled like the winner a long way out, Ryan [Maloney] put him into a good position…if the handicapper and the attrition rate, they all marry up and work together, he’ll definitely be there.
“He’s a really nice horse, you saw how well he paraded today, he looks fantastic, he’s still on the way up in the preparation as well, so today will bring him on nicely, so if we can be there next week, we will – if not we might be at the Wayne Wilson Mile.”
Bred by Go Bloodstock Australia, Transatlantic is the second foal of the 2015 Australian Oaks G1 winner Gust Of Wind (by Darci Brahma) and the 4th SW from 62 runners by Snitzel out of mares by Danehill sons.
He was offered at Inglis Easter 2022 by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds which took up a share in him after his $360,000 sale to Gollan Racing, Harbour Equine and John Foote Bloodstock.
Gust Of Wind has a 3YO filly Sensational Wind (by I Am Invincible), a 2YO colt by Stay Inside and a yearling filly by Dundeel.
As for Snitzel, he’s on track for his 5th Australian 2YO Sires’ Premiership and also holds top 4 spots on the General, 3YO Sires’ & Broodmare Sires’ Premierships.
