Snitzel filly takes the Typhoon Tracy

Consistent Snitzel filly Macroura returned to the winner’s circle in terrific style at The Valley on Friday evening when she prevailed in a well-fought battle for the $160,000 Typhoon Tracy S. 100m G3.

Winner of her first three starts at two including the Woodlands S. LR, Macroura has been out of the money only once in 8 starts and has earned $303,000 for her owner-breeder Aquis Farm and friends.

Co-trainer David Eustace said, “Fair play to the filly, she was incredibly tough…she clearly likes the Valley and she is a very valuable filly now.

“I think fresh over 1200 metres is where she is at. She will try 1400 metres at some stage.”

Macroura is Snitzel’s 7th stakeswinner this season and takes his career tally of Group winners to 64 – almost two-thirds of all his stakeswinners.

She is also one of five Group winners bred on the Snitzel/Zabeel cross, joining Time For War, Perast, Lubiton and Bavella.

Macroura’s dam Zenaida is a half-sister to New Zealand Horse of the Year Vosne Romanee, and descends from the wonderful matron Wuthering Heights, dam of the great 1970s champion Battle Heights.

Snitzel has three lots catalogued for the upcoming Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, and 45 choice yearlings in the Inglis Easter Sale, including 8 colts and 8 fillies consigned by Arrowfield.
