Snitzel filly sells for $350,000
He trained Snitzel to Group 1 success and has trained a remarkable 22 winners by him, including Arrowfield graduates Snitzerland, Hot Snitzel and Flying Snitzel.
So it was no surprise to see Gerald Ryan secure Arrowfield’s filly from Last Blaze with a bid of $350,000 during the third session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. He also trained the filly’s sister Hollyweird to Group-placed city success.
Thirty-three lots later, Ryan added another Snitzel yearling to his stable, this time Yarraman Park’s filly from the Catbird mare Makemeasupermodel, bought for $120,000.
The top-priced Snitzel colt of the Sale to date also went through the ring today. A son of Keela (by Woodman), he was offered by Rosemont Stud and bought for $280,000 by trainer Paul Perry.
Group 2 winner Sweet Idea, who starts in tomorrow’s $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, will be joined in the Gai Waterhouse stable by her sister, sold by Arrowfield for $200,000 to the champion trainer and James Harron Bloodstock today.
David Henderson, co-owner of Sweet Idea, paid the same price for the Snitzel-Helvetia colt offered by Robyn Wise.
In all, 25 lots by Snitzel have sold at an average price of $143,600.
The son of Redoute’s Choice heads the Australian General, 2YO & 3YO Sires’ premierships and has a grand chance of boosting his season earnings with four runners in Saturday’s rich Magic Millions races.
Oakleigh Girl and Sheer Style line up in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (R) LR, while Sweet Idea is joined in the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (R) LR by Estonian Princess, who made the field after Charlie Boy was scratched on Friday morning.
Buyers have a further six opportunities to buy Snitzel yearlings at the Magic Millions Sale, among them Arrowfield’s fillies from Modave and Oceanette, to be offered on Saturday evening. They can be viewed online here.
