The daughter of Deputy Lil was offered by Arrowfield Stud and purchased by Kitchwin Hills. Deputy Lil is a half-sister to Group 1-placed stakeswinner Estee, both of them from New Zealand Horse of the Year Tycoon Lil.

Widden Stud‘s Snitzel filly from Can’t Hackit (by Fasliyev) attracted the second-highest successful bid of the day. BK Racing & Breeding paid $120,000 for the half-sister to Group-placed city winner Spot The Rock.

Four other Arrowfield-sired yearlings ended the day among sale’s top dozen prices. A pair of Starcraft colts, Lots 17 and 157, made $76,000 and $77,500 for Torryburn Stud and Marquee Stud respectively.

Mauro Poletti, who signed for Arrowfield’s 2012 Classic sale-topper (the Hussonet-Monte Rosa colt named Hussenrun and yet to race) purchased Manx Park‘s Manhattan Rain-Starry Way colt for $72,500.

New Zealand trainer Tony Pike was the buyer of Goodwood Farm‘s $70,000 Not A Single Doubt-Cash Crazy filly, a sister to smart city 2YO winner Jackpot Queen.

The Sale began with customary caution, but an active buying bench pushed the average steadily higher throughout the day and it ended on $32,824, around $1000 above last year’s Day 1 figure.

Selling continues tomorrow when Arrowfield will offer 13 yearlings – view the draft here .
