Snitzel fillies quinella G3 Breeders’ Stakes

Australia’s weather has been anything but sizzling this year, but Snitzel’s brilliant summer continued when his 2YO daughters Snitzerland and Extreme Impact quinella-ed the VRC TBV Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. 1200m G3 at Flemington on today’s Super Saturday card.

But that’s not all…two races later Snitzel’s 2YO son Pronto Pronto ran second in the VRC Sires’ Produce S. G2, to Black Caviar’s half-brother All Too Hard (by Flying Spur ‘s son Casino Prince).

Snitzerland confirmed her class with a singularly impressive performance, sitting just behind the leaders until Corey Brown asked her to sprint. Her response was instant and decisive, taking her to an easy 2.75 length victory in 1.10.26.

The David Hayes-trained Extreme Impact (ex Serious Impact by Fasilyev) defied her long odds with a strong effort for second, 0.75 length ahead of Coins. Extreme Impact was a $130,000 Blue Sky Thoroughbreds purchase from the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

Pronto Pronto (ex Teresa by Darshaan) achieved his Group placing at his third start, after a debut fourth to Mama’s Choice in Listed Stakes company, then winning at Sandown on 29 February.

Snitzel is now the sire of five stakeswinners among 17 stakes performers (10 this season) from his first three Australian crops of racing age. He has moved to third on the 2YO Sires’ list, just ahead of his sire Redoute’s Choice , with Not A Single Doubt and Charge Forward also among the top dozen. Together these four Arrowfield sires have had 16 juvenile winners in Australia this season.

Arrowfield-bred Snitzerland (ex Monte Rosa by Fraar) was sold by Bellerive Stud to Darby Bloodstock for $125,000 at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. She is raced by Neil Werrett & Steve McCann and trained by Gerald Ryan who praised her generously after today’s win.

“She’s been number one right from the word go. She’s got it all, good gate speed, she can relax and quicken and she does so well at home. All we need now is just to keep her together as we go towards the Slipper.”

Monte Rosa’s yearling colt by Hussonet topped the Inglis Sydney Classic Sale, sold for $140,000 to Mauro Poletti from the Arrowfield draft. Monte Rosa is back in foal to Snitzel.

The two Snitzel yearlings in the 2012 Inglis Easter Sale catalogue are a colt from Sunset Express and a filly from Be Cool (NZ).
