Snitzel does it again!

A week after notching up his second Golden Slipper winner, Snitzel has added his 30th 2YO Group winner Amur in the $200,000 ATC T.L. Baillieu H. 1400m G3.

It’s the third win from 5 starts for Godolphin’s strapping chestnut colt, who drove hard late to defeat his stablemate Inhibitions.

Bookmakers immediately lowered Amur’s odds for the $1 million Inglis Sires’ G1 on Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick next Saturday.

Amur’s jockey Nash Rawiller said, “He really showed a lot of fight and he was strong through the line and should be able to get further. At this stage the world’s his oyster, it is a great stepping stone.”

Amur, named for a rare leopard subspecies, is the first foal out of Leopard (by Animal Kingdom), a half-sister of Champion 3YO Filly Alizee and Group 1 winner & sire Astern. Leopard is now in foal to Dundeel.

Snitzel’s 17 stakeswinners this season include four 2YOs (Group 1 winner Shinzo, Group winners Amur & Empire Of Japan and New Zealand Listed winner Ethereal Star). The four-time Champion Sire is second on the current Australian General Sires’ Premiership with more than $14.2 million prizemoney, and heads the 2YO Sires’ table with $4.2 million.

Amur is the 134th stakeswinner of Snitzel’s exceptional career, which continues to grow at the rate of a stakes win every 12 days or so.

The 2023 Inglis Easter catalogue features 24 colts & 16 fillies by Snitzel,
among them 6 colts & 6 fillies in the Arrowfield draft
