Smart Not A Single Doubt 3YO is Hong Kong-bound

Not A Single Doubt has several talented performers in Hong Kong and racing at Taupo in New Zealand on Wednesday turned up a likely addition to their ranks in the shape of Daft Punk – presumably named after the French electronic music duo.

The 3YO gelding ran third on debut at Taupo last month and returned there to score a comfortable all-the-way win against a field of progressive 3YOs and qualify himself for transfer to Hong Kong. Watch the race video here.

Bred by Swell Investments, Daft Punk (ex Marblue by Marscay) was a $50,000 purchase from the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2011 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale and is trained by Shane Crawford for prominent Macau owner Tony Chan.

After the win Crawford explained plans for Daft Punk, “He’ll have a spell now then go to Hong Kong. Tony has a stable of 25 to 30 horses in Macau and he races two of three in Hong Kong. He’s got two permits for Hong Kong horses so Daft Punk will probably take one of them.”

Not A Single Doubt has been represented by six winners in Hong Kong headed by Tai Sing Yeh (6 wins and 2nd, HKJC Premier Bowl HK-3), last season’s impressive debut winner Triumphant Jewel, Victorius & Seasons Star.

Daft Punk is the fourth winner from 6 foals bred on the Not A Single Doubt/Marscay cross – best of them so far has been Group 3 winner Doubtful Jack.

Marblue, a grand-daughter of 6-time US Grade 1 winner Optimistic Gal, has a yearling filly by Beneteau.
