Smart buys, memorable rewards

It’s easy to think that, as one of Australia’s leading yearling vendors, Arrowfield sells only at the top of the market, but that’s not supported by the facts.

Firstly, Arrowfield’s 2014-23 Magic Millions Gold Coast clearance rate was 95.2% – confirming the Stud’s readiness to meet the market at every level.

Secondly, more than half of Arrowfield’s offered lots were sold for $200,000 or less.  They include 12 of the Sale’s best Under-the-Radar Buys, among them Group 1 winners Hitotsu & Secret Agenda, and Bennett Racing’s current Group 2 winners Baraqiel & Snitzanova.

Then there’s 2024 Scone Cup LR winner Sky Lab, purchased for $48,000 by trainer and part-owner Paul Perry from Arrowfield at Magic Millions 2019.

A 6-time winner, Group 1-placed as a 3YO and multiple Group performer, he’s so far earned $1.4 million.

Also at Magic Millions 2019, trainers Robert & Luke Price secured Count De Rupee for $145,000, well below the average of the entire sale. Seven wins & 8 placings later, he was a Group 2 winner of $2.6 million prizemoney.

Buyers focused on Million Dollar-earning Fillies will also find plenty of value in Arrowfield’s Magic Millions draft.

The $625,000 that Australian Bloodstock and Willinga Park paid for Arrowfield’s Lot 895 at Magic Millions 2021 secured not only a strapping filly, but also a formidable pedigree, as a daughter of supersire Snitzel, from the immediate family of Champion Filly Alizee & Group 1 winner Astern.

Named Willinga Beast, she earned $426,000 before selling in June 2024 for $675,000, then promptly boosted her value with a Listed Race win, in the process adding $92,000 to her prizemoney.

Triple Crown Syndications did even better with their 2018 Arrowfield Magic Millions purchase. That was Group winner & Thousand Guineas G1 runner-up Missile Mantra, knocked down for just $30,000.

She proceeded to earn $608,000 on the track and was then sold as a broodmare in 2022 for $950,000 – a total return of more than $1.5 million.

Magic memories & memorable rewards await in Arrowfield’s 2025 Magic Millions draft.
Parades at Barns S, T & U commence on Wednesday afternoon, 1 January.

John & Paul Messara and the Arrowfield team wish you & your family a happy festive Christmas and look forward to celebrating the New Year with you on the Gold Coast!
